Keep in step with the Spirit,
Not to gratify the lust;
Fill desires you merit,
Of the flesh never to trust.

These will oppose each other,
That keeps you from righteous things;
Opposed to one another,
Blocking what the Spirit brings.

Fleshy lusts blocks the Spirit,
The Spirit against the flesh;
Consider as a debit,
A sin that will not stay fresh.

Being led by the Spirit,
You are not under the Law;
Sin blocks what you inherit,
For it has caused you a flaw.

Fleshy works are evident,
From evil habits of life;
In your heart a resident,
That causes toils and strife.

The feeling of jealousy,
In rivalry comes from rage;
Wrath develops from envy,
Builds like tigers in a cage.

Sexual iniquity,
As well as fornication;
Are forms of adultery,
A self-gratification.

As I have warned you before,
You can never inherit;
In entering Heaven’s door,
Doing ungodly merit.

The Spirit’s fruit comes from love,
Having joy, peace, through goodness;
A humbled faith on above,
A kindhearted gentleness.

Against such, there is no Law,
Those in Christ are crucified;
The flesh can no longer flaw,
Since you have been glorified.
